National Leadership Conference 2017: Listen & Lead
took place in Indianapolis, Indiana and was an incredible weekend that encouraged my heart and made me thankful to be a Zeta Tau Alpha.
First things first this week was to prep for the event! One of my favorite things to set up was the chapter flags. Zeta Tau Alpha has a flag created for each chapter after they are installed. It is tradition for chapter members to get photos with their chapter flags.

I've had the opportunity to see our chapter flag multiple times throughout my collegiate years, but on this day I had the opportunity to unpack and set up Zeta Upsilon's flag which was pretty exciting!
National Officer Reception

On Wednesday, we celebrated our first full day at NLC with the traditional National Officer Reception and Dinner. It was nice to have a chance to mingle and talk with various alumnae and get to know some of the women we will be working with this coming year at various chapters.
A few of my favorite National Officers!
Welcome to NLC!

On Thursday, the collegians arrived! We had been eagerly awaiting their arrival and I was very excited to be on airport duty. We got to be the first faces the collegians saw and welcome them to National Leadership Conference!

I was especially excited to welcome the delegates from my own chapter! Taylor & Morgan who were both attending their first NLC.

We had many duties throughout the week. Setting up the whole conference, shifts at Crown & Co., helping facilitate general sessions, assisting small break out groups, being hype girls and working with IO staff all week was such a blast!

Consultant Head Table Lunch

I remember being at conventions and NLC as a collegiate and seeing all the TLCs at the head table getting introduced. I've always looked up to them and loved every TLC that came to visit my chapter, it was such a cool experience to sit at the head table and get a great view of so many legendary Zetas, past National Council members and National Presidents.

We also got to be a part of "Cupcakes with Consultants" the interest meeting for collegians to learn about LC life (a meeting I attended multiple times over the years as a collegian).

Snow White and the 20 LC Dwarfs!
Later that night was Zeta Dance Party! Us Leadership Consultants had a group dance planned. Earlier in the week we had been asked to make up a short "performance" to do at NLC. We planned out and practiced our Snow White and the {20} LC Dwarfs, we even made costumes!

Crown Chapter Dinner
I was chapter President in the fall semester and Taylor, (to the left of me) is our current President and started her term in the spring, so both of use were very invested in Crown Chapter! We were nervous but excited. Crown Chapter is an award that every ZTA chapter has the ability to earn. National Council awards the chapters that have attained a level of excellence in ZTA for the year.

Our chapter, Zeta Upsilon was installed in 1970 at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and we had NEVER earned the award. At my first NLC in 2015 we finally attained Crown Chapter and it is to-date one of my proudest moments.

Our chapter worked so hard that year and continues to do so, this NLC marked our 3rd year in a row winning Crown Chapter! I could not be more proud of my Zeta Upsilon sisters and I cant wait to see what they do next!
ZTA Casino Night

NLC is full of traditions, but Casino Night debuted this year and was a huge hit! There were all kinds of prizes, games, and activities that everyone could take part in; I was a spoons dealer for the night.

Big Sister Ritual
On the last day of NLC I had the honor of being a part of the Big Sister Service. We prepped all week with our National Ritual Chairmen, Kery Webb.
Afterwards, we all headed to brunch in the hotel and then listened to the inspiring words of our National President, who spoke about our past and where our future is taking us. Overall, NLC was such an incredible experience and it was so interesting to attend a conference for ZTA and be on the other side of things and get to see some of the behind the scenes. It was a hectic week, but so much fun!
