Kappa Phi Chapter

Cristopher Newport University

Newport News, Virginia

As you may know, Virginia is for lovers! I loved getting to see fellow Consutant sister, Victoria on the road {again} and also meet the lovely ladies of Kappa Phi! There are "Love" signs all over Virginia and during our time there we found a few! This first one was at the📍Norfolk Airport.

Virginia is the birth-state of Zeta Tau Alpha, our Alpha chapter was founded at Longwood University in 1898. We were visiting Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia which happened to be located near a lot of our founders' grave sites. The first thing we did after I landed in Norfolk was go straight to a graveyard, and if you know me, you know I was crazy excited!

The graveyard was expansive and as we were driving around for a while looking for Della's headstone it started hailing. Getting desperate we called on Patti Cords Levitte, our National Archives Chairman, who came to our rescue and gave us turn-by-turn directions to Della. Later in the week, we also got to visit Helen May Crafford's grave.

Each of our 9 Founder's graves are distinguished by a 'Zeta Tau Alpha Founder' medallion.

Home Sweet Home for the week!

CNU's Zeta House is split into 4 apartments, Victoria & I had our own apartment for the week! One of the highlights of our visit was the "Zeta Spa Alpha" recruitment event that we hosted in each of the 4 apartments.

Zeta Spa Aesthetic

Each room had a different theme: hair, makeup, nails and the last room was relaxation, which was complete with peppermint tea, lemon cakes, bath bomb party favors and of course, turquoise face masks! VP3 Morgan did such a fabulous job recruiting and we got the chance to pass out 5 more bids during our visit! Yay!

If You're Reading This I'm A Zeta

On the road we get a ton of shirts and Kappa Phi really spoiled us! My all-time favorite shirt so far is a mock Drake album cover shirt from the chapter's Drake Bid Day last fall!

Even though Victoria and I had a jam-packed visit schedule we still found time to hang out with the chapter sisters and explore some of Newport News, Williamsburg and Virginia Beach!

Here's a few of our favorite things

📍Aromas. V and I indulged in some fondue a few times during our visit! Shoutout to my chapter sister, Danielle for all the amazing recommendations!

📍Byrds. This little cafe was not only the perfect place for meetings, but also for a Snickers latte and some Cinnamon Roll Pancakes!

📍Oyster Point is a cute little downtown area in Newport News. It was the Luck O' the Schedule that Victoria and I got to spend St. Patty's Day together!🍀

📍Nestle Toll House Cafe: I had no idea these existed?! But so glad they do.

📍Go Ape! Ziplining and Adventure Park. On our last day in Virginia, we had the chance to go Ziplining with a sister, Madison! I've never been before and it was pretty scary but we survived and it was SO much fun!

📍Food for Thought. After Ziplining we were starving and stopped at this really cool restaurant that immediately made me think of my dad because he loves history and trivia! The whole theme is trying to provoke thought and there were interesting historical quotes all over the place and a random assortment of trivia cards at each table.

📍Yankee Holiday Park. A Year Round Celebration of Christmas can be found in Williamsburg; where it snows inside every 4 minutes, you can find your name on the Nice List and if you're very lucky, meet Santa in the off season!

📍Virginia Beach. We were so grateful to Madison! She took us all over the place including Virginia Beach for the day!

It could not have been a more perfect way to end a visit! The water was freezing, but we got to enjoy the views of the beach, stop at the Fishing Pier and ate crab legs at Ocean Eddie's, which if you're #BachelorNation fan was the restaurant where Lauren and Arie went for her hometown visit!

We enjoyed every second of our visit to the Kappa Phi Chapter at Christopher Newport and it ended way too fast. We were so proud of them and can't wait to see what they do next, it was especially fun getting to work with Sally Wellman, a former consultant from my chapter, Zeta Upsilon! Next Up is Drury University in Springfield, Missouri!
