Consultant Timeline

A hefty last week of LC Training was kicked off with a really fun and interesting topic: The History of the Consultant program with then TLC and now VPC, Raechel Biggs!

The first ever ZTA Consultant was appointed in 1912, Rose Nelson Hughes, and this began our amazing program that has spanned generations.

Our first task was to take milestones of the Consultant program was to take those events and put them in timeline order. Mrs. Biggs and I are standing near our respective travel year, only 17 years apart!❤️

Area I Represent

Mrs. Biggs presides over Area I which is basically the East Coast of the United States down to North Carolina. Lauren (NC), Olivia (RI), Jordan (MD), Kenzie (CT), myself (PA) and Dawn (WV) made sure to get a picture with our VPC!

We took advantage of a break in training to go get ice cream at Kyle (and Oprah's) favorite place: Graeter's!

We "get" to do this

National Panhellenic Conference training was led by Mrs. Landers, our National NPC Delegate, our boss Caitlin and of course, NPC Vice Chairman, Malaea Seleski!

Mrs. Seleski led training with us last year as well and she talked to us about how important the impact we're making at chapters is, even if we're only touching one person at a time.

She really made me realize all last year over and over again that even when the nights get long and there's so much to do, how lucky we are that we GET to do this job. This year, she brought stickers to make sure that reminder sticks with our whole team!

While we have been training at IO, National Council was in for the weekend for their first official meeting of the biennium! We got to have lunch with Mrs. Williams, our new National President and she wished us luck on the road with the cutest "survival kits"!

Our second day working with National Council was like Zeta Christmas!

When we got to the office a package was there for our LC sister, Kim! Her mom had sent each of us a bag with ZTA and plane cookies. It was such a thoughtful (and delicious) surprise!

The surprises didn't stop there! Recruitment training was interrupted by an in-office visit from Subzero, the Nitrogen Ice Cream parlor!

And then, what we had all been waiting for: our August-September schedules were hot off the printers and in our hands! We were all so excited to see where our first recruitments were, who was on what extension teams and which consultants we'd run into on the road!

The exciting day still wasn't over! That week we had been planning our CROWN party for National Council! We chose a theme and were tasked with recruiting them just like we would teach collegians!

We had so much fun playing minute-to-win-it games, eating at the candy bar and handing out bids to our National President & Council!

Themis Sneak Peek Before we left training we had our LC photoshoot done for ZTA's magazine, Themis. We started out in business clothes so that we could get headshots for the website and pictures for our info sheets that get sent to chapters before we get there!

Different Schools, Same Sisterhood

This year we did something different that I thought was really cool! Everyone brought a t-shirt that represented their campus. One of the best parts of our Consultant program is the unique chapter experiences we all bring to the job.

It was fun to snag a picture with these 3 special LCs! I visited UNC Charlotte, Baker University and WV Wesleyan on my travels last year and met these ladies.

Roomie Love!

In the evening, we headed to Coxhall Gardens to take some more photos for our LC Themis spread! The Gardens were so pretty and we were there at the perfect time to see the sunset!

Surprise Visit

On top of getting to know all of my new LC sisters and getting to reunite with my second year friends from last year, I got to visit with 2 surprise visits from former Consultants.

Sam Bradley, now works for Auburn's Greek Life and was in town for some training and Victoria Salsman, is now a teacher and was passing through on the way to a friend's engagement party! Love and miss them so much and forever grateful for our ZTA connection.

📍Alpha Sigma Alpha Headquarters Every year, ASA Sorority invites all of the Sorority and Fraternity Consultants over for a BBQ! We always loved grabbing a photo by the Farmville sign!

ASA and ZTA, as well as Tri-Sigma and Kappa Delta all share Longwood University in Farmville, VA as their place of founding. All four Alpha chapters are thriving still to this day on campus!

One last day exploring Carmel with my pals❤️

Our last day in the office was filled with last minute questions, hugs and a few tears! We each had a folder in our training room that our LC sisters could leave notes in. It was so great to get to read them before we left.

Notes and cards are my absolute favorite thing to recieve! I save all of them and I do believe that handwritten messages are not a lost art in Zeta Tau Alpha.

For our farewell dinner, Caitlin took us to this really cool restaurant called 📍Public Greens. They have a garden outside and they use all the vegetables in their dishes. Everything was so fresh and delicious. All of the profits and extra food goes to underprivileged children in the area.

World's Best Boss

Caitlin got us all journals to write about our adventures all year and I am so excited to break mine in! After dinner, we stopped at not one, but TWO places for dessert!

We went to the world's cutest bakery: Cake Bake. I've never seen so much pink and glitter in my life (even on the Macarons!) and I loved every minute of it.

We ended the night w/ 1 last group hug at Broad Ripple Ice Cream Station!

2018-2019 ZTA LC Mission Statement

On our first day of training, our boss, Caitlin tasked us with creating a Mission Statement as a group, so that if we ever falter in our purpose this year we can look back at this statement and remember why we do this job!

Caitlin gave the returners a time slot during training to talk about Self Care on the road and we had our mission statement printed on cards so that the team can always keep it with them on the road!

I cannot wait to start this adventure again, meet new sisters and have different experiences! Follow my travels this year with the hashtag #WhereInTheAirIsAlly and on my travels page!

First up this year: Nu Chapter at the University of Alabama! Roll Tide!
