Upsilon Chapter

California University, Berkeley

San Francisco, California

I left snowy Pennsylvania and headed for warmer weather on the east coast to visit the ladies of Upsilon chapter at UC Berkeley!

Of course my first stop in California, before the Zeta House, was the local In-N-Out for a late night bite after a long travel day across the country.

📍Caffe Strada

I stayed in the guest house seperate from the actual sorority house for the week and it was the cutest little place! As I was still adjusting to the time difference, I got up super early to have breakfast at one of the local cafes.

There is a charming town surrounding campus with all kinds of cafes, shopping (even an Urban Outfitters on campus?!), restaurants and even a little local flower stand; not to mention all of the Sorority and Fraternity houses, each one was so unique!

Go Golden Bears

I visited campus for some meetings, to buy my school sticker from the bookstore and of course to grab some milk tea--another California favorite!

Aside from In-N-Out, I ate at some really cool places in town!

At Freehouse, I had some fireside skillet bacon mac-n-cheese. All the Californians were apparently cold and sitting inside, but I was enjoying the 60 degree weather by myself on the outdoor patio!

Cinnaholic was a sweet treat right down the street! Seen on Shark Tank, Cinnaholic is a California company that makes delectable cinnamon rolls. I had the roll with half peanut butter, half cake batter icing, topped with cookie dough. Amazing!

📍 Cafe Milano

A cafe right by campus showed their Berkeley school spirit with their famous chai tea lattes. Go Golden Bears!

📍 Little Gem Belgian Waffles

I love waffles and Oakland had the cutest waffle place with my favorite topping: cookie butter!

📍 Golden Gate Bridge

Over the weekend, I headed to San Francisco for the day! I had so much fun exploring the city and it quickly became one of my new favorites!

I stopped for breakfast at B. Patisserie, a French café, for a Kouign-amann pastry, which was absolutely amazing!

📍 Painted Ladies

I got a bus/cable car pass for the day and went all over the city to see the different sights. First up, was the Painted Ladies, the colorful Victorian homes that San Francisco is known for!

Whatever Happened to Predictability?

The Painted Ladies are also a famous scene from Full House! The actual Full House house was about a 15 minute walk from where I was sitting. That lawn is where they filmed the opening credits picnic with Uncle Jesse from the show!

📍 Chinatown

I headed over to Chinatown, which was so colorful! I stopped to grab some of my favorite milk tea from a shop in town.

📍 Plentea

The weather in the city was perfect and I tried the Nutella milk tea as I walked around Chinatown and headed for Powell Street to catch a Cable Car.

Riding the Cable Cars, was so much fun! Definitely a unique way to get around the city; I rode from Powell up to the top of the most famous street in San Francisco: Lombard Street.

📍 Lombard Street

San Francisco is known to be hilly, and Lombard Street is the steepest street in the United States! To make it a little safer, the city made it incredibly windy and the speed limit is only 5 miles per hour. The steep walk is worth the view at the top!

📍 Fisherman's Wharf

My last stop was the many pairs of the Fisherman's Wharf and was probably my favorite place I went that day!

I walked up and down the piers, got to see Alcatraz from afar and grabbed my post card at a gift shop!

Pier 39 was my favorite because I got to see the Sea Lions!

My last stop for the day was dinner on the Wharf. I stopped at the famous Boudin Sour Dough Cafe and tried their Crab Chowder.

It was the most perfect day in San Francisco, California!

Next Up!

From the west coast all the way back to the east coast for another visit with the ladies of Kappa Phi!
